A world of pure imagination – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Staff and students took part in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ written and directed by our wonderful English/drama teacher, Ruth Hayward. The pantomime based on the iconic story when Charlie Bucket finds one of the five golden tickets to the Wonka Factory. Charlie and the other 4 winners embarked on a journey beyond the gates to find a dreamland of sweet delights and amazing opportunities.

Through the story they soon realise that nobody leaves the same way they arrived. All staff and students at Cambian Hereford School had at least 1 or more roles to play in the pantomime. Every character had their own costume which was provided by a local theatre. Students were given the opportunity to play many different roles with some student’s never having been part of a pantomime before.

One student, Max, quoted the following:

“The panto this year was the best one yet and playing two roles for the first time was quite entertaining. I was tech (doing all of the music and background slides) and Violet Beauregard. It was the most fun one that I have done over the past few years, can’t wait to hopefully take that experience into my voice acting and maybe some songs.”

We are incredibly proud of all of our students for their dedication, talent and teamwork! The students worked for many hours learning lines and practising scenes to make this pantomime special. Some fantastic memories created and laughter had by everyone. Well done to everyone involved – a credit to themselves and the school.

Thank you to Ruth Hayward for organising a fantastic pantomime for our staff & students!

Thank you to Charlotte Lamont for creating and working with the students to create the props and back drops for the scenes.
