Students Raise Funds and Celebrate Red Nose Day with Fun and Learning
Students at Great Dunmow School, joined the nation in celebrating Red Nose Day this year, with a fun-filled day of fundraising, creativity, and learning. Following a pupil voice survey, the students were given the opportunity to decide how they would like to mark the occasion, and they chose to celebrate with a non-uniform day, proudly wearing red in support of Comic Relief.
As part of the celebrations, each student was invited to participate in a special lucky dip, where they had the chance to choose their very own Red Nose, marking 40 years of Comic Relief. The excitement was palpable as students eagerly picked their noses, adding a touch of fun to the day while contributing to a great cause.
In addition to the fundraising activities, the students also took part in an educational element that helped them understand the impact of Comic Relief. They completed reading comprehension exercises about the history and goals of Comic Relief in their English lessons. The pupils learned about how the charity has helped millions of people over the years, both in the UK and across the globe, fostering a sense of empathy and awareness of important social issues.
"It was fun having a non-uniform day and wearing red, I got a really funny Red Nose.’’ Said a Year 9 student, "It’s good knowing how you can help others with the small things we can do."
The day was a wonderful mix of creativity, community spirit, and charitable giving, with the students coming together to support a cause that has touched so many lives over the past four decades. Their enthusiasm and generosity helped make this year’s Red Nose Day celebration a memorable one for everyone involved.
