Since May 2024 GW has been playing rugby at our local club, Kendal RUFC, he is a member of the Under16 Hornets who train and play games on a weekly basis.

GW has been allocated the position of hooker which is a forward player who hooks the ball in scrums and throws the ball into line-outs.

GW has not only improved in his rugby ability but has been able to develop his social engagement and make friendships with people of his own age in an environment of mutual interests away from Whinfell.

He was also given the opportunity to attend a residential team building trip in the summer holidays to Wales. GW thoroughly enjoyed the team building activities, communal meals, rafting activity and rugby tournament. GW demonstrated real maturity in a new environment where he engaged positively with the team members, the accompanying family members and the public.

GW has contributed to many games so far this season and his competitive resilience when the results don’t go his team’s way has really come a long way which will help him in many areas in his future.
