Residential Services

On Wednesday 29th January the students and staff enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year altogether. We got the opportunity to make amazing Chinese lanterns and paper mache fortune cookies with the wonderful Martha our Art teacher.

We also got to create beautiful Chinese New Year posters exploring Chinese lettering with Krystal. Then we got to make our own delicious chicken chow mein plus a vegetable chow mein option too with a delicious mango jelly dessert with Rosie in food tech. Then in the afternoon we got to watch as the Chinese dragon began to froth and foam with a fantastic experiment with Lucy in science. Finished off with a hilarious game of seated volleyball which ended up as staff vs kids!

They loved it!! What a fantastic day and lots of fun had by all.

A write up from our student:

“On Wednesday 29th January 2025 we got to celebrate Chinese New Year. For it we handmade paper lanterns and some paper fortune cookies. This was an experience and a half it was so funny as Rosie decided it would be a grand idea to touch the hot glue due to trying to stick the pieces of paper together. In the afternoon I made a poster with Krystal. I wrote in Chinese spelling HAPPY NEW YEAR but don't remember what Krystal wrote. After that everyone gathered in the English room and we played sitting down volley ball, Lots of: screaming, laughing and plenty of fun can't wait to do it again next year.”
