This year, we will be supporting a locally-founded charity that provides an education and feeding program in Northern Kenya. ‘Lisa’s School’ is a school that supports 60 children up to the age of 6 years which, where possible, also sponsors older children into further education and several girls through university.
This term, the founder of ‘Lisa’s School’, Liz Long, visited us to tell us more about the school and the needs of the young people and their families. Liz founded the school in memory of her friend’s daughter who was murdered while working for the World Health Organisation in Zimbabwe.
Our students were so inspired by the stories of the young children at the school that they began to fundraise straight away, with Liz coming back to hold a craft session where they learnt how to make items to sell. In fact, our students have shown such an interest in Lisa’s School and the wellbeing of the children that we have decided to permanently link with Lisa’s School and share regular updates between our schools.
