Last week Cambian Devon School went on a trip to watch a performance of multi award-winning musical Mary Poppins at Plymouth Theatre Royal.
As a school, we recognise the many benefits that watching live theatre can have on children's development.
Theatre performances help to:
• Foster creativity and imagination: Children are transported into a world of storytelling, encouraging their creativity to flourish.
• Enhance communication skills: Watching actors express themselves through dialogue and movement can inspire children to improve their own communication and social skills.
• Boost empathy and emotional intelligence: Live performances allow children to experience different emotions, helping them understand various perspectives and develop empathy for others.
• Support academic learning: Theatre can complement classroom learning, especially in literacy and drama, by introducing new vocabulary, storytelling techniques, and cultural references in an engaging way.
All the students loved the performance and were fantastic representatives of the school in the community.
