KS2/Lower KS3 pupils enjoyed a trip to the Stephen Joseph Theatre on 13th December 2019. The Christmas special was an adaptation of ‘Treasure Island’. There was Long John Silver with a carrot instead of a parrot on his shoulder – the vegetable said “five a day” instead of “pieces of eight”, a Ben Gunn obsessed with cheese and a Squire Trelawney who was a woman wearing a false moustache ! For some of the pupils this was the first time they had been in a theatre and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
All pupils and staff enjoyed a three course Christmas meal together. The school does this each year and it is lovely to see everyone enjoying the festive season together.
Just before the Christmas holidays we held an Open morning for parents and carers to visit the school to look at pupils’ work and to be part of our Awards ceremony. Pupils also sang the 12 days of Christmas with a Scarborough school twist ! All pupils received a certificate of achievement and one pupil was chosen to have their name on the school shield. This year’s recipient was Jamie, who is in Year 10, for trying hard in all his lessons. Pupils who had achieved 100% attendance were also given a special mention.
