Great Dunmow School students raise over £100 for Children in Need with cupcake sale
Students at Great Dunmow School have once again shown their incredible spirit and generosity, raising over £100 for the annual Children in Need campaign. The fundraising effort saw students’ band together to bake and decorate a wide array of delicious cupcakes, which were then sold to the local community in a heart-warming display of teamwork and kindness.
The initiative was the brainchild of the school’s student council, who wanted to contribute to this year’s Children in Need appeal. Students of all ages rolled up their sleeves, working together to create an assortment of colourful, fun, and creative cupcakes. From classic vanilla to chocolate fudge and even rainbow sprinkles, the cupcakes quickly became a hit with local residents.
The sale took place outside the school, attracting a steady stream of customers eager to support the cause. “It’s been amazing to see how everyone came together to make this event a success,” said Mrs McGrath a teaching assistant at the school who helped coordinate the sale. “The students really took ownership of the project, from baking to selling, and they’ve raised a fantastic amount for a very important charity.”
The school’s fundraising efforts were met with enthusiastic support from the community, with local residents and businesses all stopping by to buy cupcakes and show their support for the children in need. One local resident shared, "It’s wonderful to see young people getting involved and making a difference. I’m proud to support such a great cause.”
In total, the students raised over £100, all of which will go directly to Children in Need, supporting vulnerable children and young people across the UK. The students’ hard work, creativity, and generosity have made a meaningful contribution to the charity, and they’re already planning their next fundraising event.
Great Dunmow School’s dedication to supporting Children in Need reflects the school’s commitment to teaching students the value of kindness, compassion, and community.
