Powering potential, shaping futures - exciting news!

Four students have been selected to join the AQA 'Unlocking Potential' mentoring programme delivered by AQA and Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. The students will be mentored by international Hockey champion - Charlotte Hartley.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust puts world class athletes shoulder to shoulder with young people, equipping them with a winning mindset and shaping their future. Whether that’s building relationship skills, improving self-esteem or learning to stay focused, the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust sporting champions help the next generation move forward with confidence.

This incredible opportunity will provide a transformational mentoring experience, and over the next eight months, our students will embark on a personal journey of growth and discovery.

The programme aims to boost confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, while enhancing overall wellbeing and future aspirations. Our young people will develop valuable skills in leadership, presentation, and initiative-taking, all of which will serve them well in their academic and personal lives.

We are particularly excited to welcome Charlotte Hartley as our mentor. Charlotte's impressive hockey career has taken her around the globe, competing in the Commonwealth Games, Junior Olympics, and even earning the title of England's top goal scorer in the Masters World Cup. Her wealth of experience and determination will undoubtedly inspire our young people to overcome challenges and strive for success.

A unique aspect of this programme is the social action project our young people will plan and deliver, benefiting our local community. This hands-on experience will allow them to apply their newfound skills and make a tangible difference in the world around them.

Whinfell School are really looking forward to the next eight months, with events, visits and activities taking place as part of the programme.

We wish all the very best to all four students!
