I have almost 30 years of experience in a wide and diverse teaching career and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team at Whinfell. For the past 21 years I have been dedicated to working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
I am passionate about ensuring that all young people have access to every aspect of the national curriculum and education.
I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, focussing on developing the skills and knowledge necessary for young people to lead independent and fulfilling lives, whilst striving to empower them to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
Registered Manager
Jennifer Carradus
I have worked at Whinfell for 10 years now and prior to my current role I have worked as a Residential Support Worker, Team Leader and Deputy Care Manager.
I am currently working towards my Level 5 Diploma in leadership & management for residential childcare which I am really enjoying.
One of my main aims for the young people who reside here at Whinfell is for them to become as independent as individually possible by building up the skills and strategies they need for their future.
Head of Education
Michelle Turner
I work with and support the education team to deliver our child-centred curriculum throughout the school year.
Having worked in education and teaching for over 20 years in a variety of leadership roles across a range of settings, I am driven by my passion to ensure each young person receives a bespoke, engaging and relevant school experience which develops them not just academically, but gives them the tools they need to succeed as independent adults.
Care Manager
Emma Brown
I have worked within the school/home for almost 10 years and have been lucky enough to work with a fantastic team of staff within the different departments of our school. I have experience in working with Young People with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD and moderate learning difficulties.
I have a genuine desire to support individuals with their personal aspirations and to empower young people to overcome any challenges that they might face in order to achieve these.
When I am not at work I enjoy exploring the Lake District with my Labradoodle and swimming!
