We're incredibly proud to announce that one of our Southlands School students has been offered a place at the University of Cambridge.
He started at Southlands during year 6, and has developed so much during his time with us. During his later years, through the support of the school, he was able to attend Brockenhurst College. This allowed him to study A level Maths, Further Maths and Physics whilst continuing his studies in ICT at Southlands School.
He has achieved a number of accolades whilst at Southlands, including:
- Representing the school at a number of IBM events.
- Taking part in the UKMT Junior and Intermediate Maths challenges, achieving several gold certificates and attending the UKMT National Summer School - one of only 192 student invited nationally!
- Completion of the higher education plus programme, run by Cambridge University.
- A number of in-house awards, including The Lloyd Trophy for academic progress.
- As well as being a member of the Students Union, Debating Society and completing his bronze Duke of Edinburgh award.
His journey hasn't always been an easy one, due to this ASD diagnosis. However, he has become a very resilient and determined young man. He will go on to further his studies in mathematics at university and we really couldn't be prouder of all of his achievements!
