Last Thursday, members of Home Tree School attended a search dog training event to help dog handlers practice their handling of their canine companions.
These dogs are trained to sniff out explosives, drugs and other contraband and our students put them to the test, by hiding contraband items upon their person and allowing the dog to attempt to find them.
Tests were carried out in various scenarios including seated positions, walking around and in a group situation where they had to locate the contraband on one person in a small crowd.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the social experience, mixing with other people in a new environment and having a cuddle with the well-behaved pooches!
