On the 24th May, Grateley House School was invited to play a football match against St. Edward’s School at Melcher Court in Romsey.
It was a great opportunity for our students to play a 5-a-side football match on a stunning astro turf pitch and most importantly to compete and work as a team against a school that has greater experience in tournaments.
The match did not disappoint with both teams showing a high level of intensity during the first half. A goal by St.Edward’s right at the end of the first half opened the result. As GHS, was feeling more settled two goals by Henry at the beginning of the second half put Grateley in front at 1-2.
Unfortunately, in the last 5 minutes a rapid comeback from St.Edwards, left the final result at 4-2 to the locals. There was a great sportive atmosphere with two teams showing outstanding sportsmanship during the whole match.
Regardless the result, staff and students met at the end of the match congratulating each other for all the commitment and hard work during the whole match. Especially how they had worked as a team and did not give up when the difficulties were coming, playing against a more experienced team.
Well done GHS team, you make us really proud!
