The Queen’s Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year. Everyone was invited to plant trees in honour of The Queen's service and the legacy she has built. This will create a green legacy of its own, with every tree planted bringing benefits for people, wildlife and the climate, now and for the future.
Another of our successful Green Dragons’ Den proposals last year was to take up the Woodland Trust offer of free trees for schools and starter packs to create a Calming Copse On the Friday 3rd June, the young people at Hill House School played their part by planting these trees!
Our aim being to create a peaceful spot to encourage mindfulness for both students and staff as well as being an oasis for birds and other wildlife.
We planted 25 trees in the field alongside our allotment gardens, which are already planted to produce all sorts of edible goodies for us to harvest later this term. It seems we have some able gardeners who will be tending all our plants for the rest of the season!
