In Food technology, student’s where given a task to find a cake traditionally used around Christmas time. They came across a Christmas Yule log cake and it won the vote to create their own.
The history behind the Yule Log goes as far back as the medieval era. In winter families would gather around the fireplace and burn huge decorated logs for the 12 nights of Christmas.
Yule logs back then were decorated in ribbons, so our young people decided to make decorations for their cake with fondant icing such as candy canes, snowmen, Santa hats, gingerbread men, stars, penguins and letters - And don't they look delicious?
The Yule log cakes turned out absolutely beautiful and we would like to congratulate our young people for their hard work.
