Stratford Lodge
Last year when the conflict in Ukraine started we held a student meeting at Stratford Lodge and one of the young people suggested that we should raise money for the refugees, thus Stratford Lodge’s Miles for Refugees was born.
Over the past 2 years we have run, cycled, canoed and walked over 600 miles to raise money for the British Red Cross and their campaign. To date we have raised over £300 for this most important cause.
This year the distance chosen for us to achieve was 280 miles. This total number of miles equates to the distance travelled by a refugee from Tunis to Sicily.
Sicily is where the Red Cross teams provide food, shelter and medical care to those seeking safety, as well as helping people get back in touch with their families after a long, tough journey.
The students and staff at Stratford Lodge have surpassed the 280 mile target, together covering 340 miles! We are proud of our achievement and being able to raise money for such well deserving cause.
We would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who took part and kindly donated.
