On Wednesday 4th May students and staff joined Cumbria’s Dry Stone Walling Association to spend some time looking at lots of examples of dry stone walls, and learning about which ones are used in which regions of the country (who knew there were so many!)
Towards the end of the day we were able to try building our very own dry stone walls using polystyrene blocks, making sure we had the right type of stones for each layer of the wall.
We also searched through the surrounding bushes to see what minibeasts we could find, and discovered some caterpillars and spiders. We all had lots of fun whilst doing it!
