For cultural day this term we focused on Jamaica! We had 3 sets of activities including a quiz, art and drumming. All of the children (and staff!) joined in and the day was a great success! For art, students worked with stencils to compose a simple yet bold piece of work. For the quiz, students competed for the top spot with 3 rounds consisting of general knowledge, food and music. During the drumming session, the children learnt about instruments used in Jamaica and had the chance to play them together. Students had the opportunity to try traditional Jamaican cuisine including patties, sorrel tea, scotch bonnet soup, plantain, supermalt and Jamaican gingerbread.
Our cultural days support our young people in developing tolerance, curiosity and respect for others. The more our students are aware of other cultures, the more able they will be to recognise the beauty of diversity!
