A young person from Cambian New Elizabethan School, Katy* very courageously made contact with the manager from the famous Duckworth Worcestershire Trust (DWT) to find out more information on the trust and their work as part of her BTEC Level 2 Assignment Brief - Protecting Our Local Environment: Local Conference.
Research for the brief resulted in finding the DWT which is a local organisation. They were delighted with her interest in their work, that they gave her the opportunity to create something unique for their Café.
The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust is a registered charity, established in 1998 by Mr Cecil Duckworth OBE, the former chairman of Worcester Heat Systems (now Worcester Bosch).
They are dedicated to the conservation, protection and enhancement of the natural and built environments for the people of Worcestershire. They also aim to relieve poverty amongst those who are disadvantaged, by carrying out such work. They achieve these objectives through a number of projects, environmental management and the provision of funding for schools.
Every month the Café celebrates a theme for June it was the environment, which fitted CNES’s BTEC Level 2 brief and Katy worked very hard on this project and the banner prepared.
It explores the theme of ‘Protecting our Environment’ representing the preservation of the world and how we must protect it. This can be achieved by recycling more and taking care of local wildlife such as the orange tip butterfly which can be found in Chapter Meadows.
Well done on all your hard work Katy and the banner is absolutely wonderful!
