Last week, a small team from Cambian Group’s head office went down to Purbeck View School in Dorset to help give some of the school’s popular areas a bit of a makeover.
Everybody arrived bright and early at Wareham Station and we made our way down to the school. We met with Kate Landells, Ginny Bellard, Neil Johnstone and many other members of staff along the way. After some refreshments, we were given a tour of the school and some of the children’s homes before being shown the areas that needed some extra TLC.
These spots included the sports hall, benches in the garden and a fence in one of the school playgrounds. It was time for us to get our brushes ready and we pulled our weight to get the jobs done! Even as we were painting, we were all happily chatting away and managed to get ourselves completely covered in paint; only adding to the fun!
Luckily for us, Purbeck View were hosting their Jamaica food day in the school chapel and we were all treated to a lovely feast including BBQ jerk chicken, beef curry and dumplings, rice and peas; followed by Jamaican pineapple cake. This was very much appreciated by us all, as we had worked up quite an appetite!
After lunch, we continued with our tasks and just as we were all reconsidering our day jobs and becoming professional artists, the jobs had been completed and it was time for us to return to London.
All of us from head office thoroughly enjoyed taking some time away from our busy schedules to meet with the staff and young people at the school and help do something truly special for them all. It also gave us the chance to get to know colleagues even better and we cannot wait to have more days like these!
