At By the Bridge with Cambian, we try to encourage foster children to be ambitious, self-assured and accepting of new challenges
Find out moreIt’s important you feel confident to care for a Fostered child or young person sufficiently and be able to provide them with a high-level of care, that’s why we offer an extensive and ongoing portfolio of Therapeutic Parenting training to develop your skills as a Foster Parent. Our bespoke Therapeutic training helps all our Foster Parents to build on the qualities, skills and life experiences they already have. As long as you’re open to learning new things then we’re here to guide and support you.
Our therapeutic approach means that we treat and train Foster Parents as professionals and provide them with the tools to build strong relationships with the children that come into their care. We want everyone to feel confident and secure in their work and that’s why we work with our Foster Parents to identify training to meet the individual needs of the Foster family as well as the children that they look after.
Fostering Training Courses
We offer more training than any other independent provider and all of our courses are completely free, high-quality, flexible and straightforward. They are designed to give Foster Parents the invaluable skills and confidence to fully support the children that they look after. Our courses are run by fully-qualified professionals from a range of commercial and Social care backgrounds.
Therapeutic Training
Creating a positive, therapeutic environment for the children who we look after is one of our core values, that’s why our training is based around this notion and we help all our Foster Parents to understand and implement this in their parenting. Once Foster Parents have completed out Therapeutic training programme they will be able to:
✓ Distinguish between therapeutic parenting and therapy
✓ Identify how they can provide a therapeutic environment for children
The therapeutic training courses help Foster families to understand why children do what they do and be aware of the triggers and patterns that may occur – enable Foster Parents to better understand and manage challenging and deregulated behaviours.
